Electronic items like compact or DSLR cameras and higher end brand name cell phones cost quite a bit more here then in the US or UK. If you are coming, be sure to bring your own. If you already live here, you may want to think about hopping over to Thailand to make expensive electronics purchases. I've bought a Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1, and a Canon 5D Mk II DSLR for about 30% cheaper than here in the Philippines. When you are buying that kind of gear, the flight and one night stay make sense. My flight was around $180 US, and a one night stay in Pattaya runs around $30, unless you either like living in a hot, musty cracker box or need the luxury and all the appointments of a five star hotel.
